BLACKBIRD "Shirt Jacket"

BLACKBIRD "Shirt Jacket"

I'm writing a blog post for the first time in a while.
It always ends up being a while between posts, so I'm not even sure how many people are still reading, but I have been away on summer break.
I spent that time resting thoroughly, and although the arrival of these goods during that period caused a slight delay in the release, we have just received items that I can recommend to everyone, from loyal fans of the brand to those who are not yet familiar with it.
They have been available online since yesterday.

The pieces that have arrived this time are shirt jackets crafted from four different types of fabric.
First is the BLACK version, which uses a linen-cotton fabric from the Italian mill Lyria—a personal favorite of mine.
It’s a fabric that’s rewarding to "grow," as its texture only improves the more you wear it. I’m looking forward to seeing how it looks once it’s been worn until it’s perfectly broken in.
While Lyria is known for its many beautiful patterns and expressive fabrics, there is a unique atmosphere to these simple fabrics when you wear them. It’s a piece that offers a genuine sense of excitement despite its quiet appearance.

For the Beige Check, we used a check pattern original to the brand.
It’s a light-ounce wool that combines a light wearing feel with a rich aesthetic.
It features a large red check on a beige base, with fine blue and yellow lines woven in at an exquisite balance.
The same fabric has been used for other jackets, but I was personally drawn to how it pairs with this single-layer, lightweight silhouette.
It is a truly unique check pattern that you won't find anywhere else, as it is an original.
I highly recommend this piece not just to those who fall in love with the pattern itself, but also to those who usually tend to choose simple clothing.

The remaining BROWN CHECK and GREY CHECK versions use a wool gingham fabric woven from 2/48 super-soft-twisted merino wool yarn.
By limiting the number of twists to the absolute limit for weaving, they’ve managed to draw out the natural softness of the wool.
Furthermore, the fabric has been processed to hold more air between the fibers, resulting in a fluffy, soft texture.
Despite having a brushed feel, it has the smooth, gentle touch characteristic of merino wool.
You can throw it on as easily as you would a cardigan.

The BROWN CHECK has a gentle impression, while the GREY CHECK is easy to incorporate into any outfit.
Both are so well-finished that it’s hard to choose.

It has elements of a coverall, it's a jacket, and it's also a shirt.
It doesn't fit into a single category, and that is precisely why it is a versatile piece that works with a wide range of outfits.
Though I haven’t captured it in the photos, there is a practical interior pocket behind the chest pocket as well.
For the upcoming season, I think it would be great to wear it lightly over a turtleneck cut-and-sew to create an elegant look.
Personally, my favorite way to style it is with casual items like a hoodie or vintage sweatshirt.

These shirt jackets blend naturally with your existing BLACKBIRD archive, and I hope you have fun thinking about how to combine them with the clothes you already own!
Please try incorporating them into your everyday style and finding your own unique way to wear them.
Until next time.
