Samuel Zelig "Underdrawing Pants"
Brand : Samuel Zelig
Samuel Zelig is a collaboration between Los Angeles-based Jonathan Levite and former Ralph Lauren employee Melissa Marsella. Jonathan and Melissa, who are both vintage aficionados, express their idea of a "Dream Vintage" using modern techniques.
All designs, including patches and embroidery, are originals by the designers. Each artwork has a different style, as if the piece has been passed down through generations and customized by its owner.

Detail :
Inspired by the hand-customized pants of the early 1900s, the Underdrawing Pants are made from 11oz 100% cotton duck canvas.
This high-quality fabric was sourced from a Japanese spinning mill with a history dating back to the mid-19th century.
The weight of the fabric is neither too heavy nor too light, making it ideal for wearing all year round.
They're designed to have a wide leg, high rise and regular length with triple-needle lap seam construction and tonal finishing.
This detail is often seen in vintage workwear from that time. These pants were created with meticulous attention to every single detail.
Just a year ago, the designer visited Italy for his first trade show.
In my free time before the show started, I visited some of Florence's most inspiring museums, wandering through the rooms and seeing many famous Renaissance paintings and sculptures.
What fascinated the team most were the unfinished paintings in the museum that showed rough pencil lines depicting decorative shapes of flowers and plants.
We were inspired again by these paintings when designing this FW24 collection. The "Underdrawing Pants" are made in two stages: first, they are digitally printed with our designers' own interpretation of the decorative sketches.
Linework embroidery is then applied to certain parts of the print to accentuate the light and dark areas.
Finally, it is finished with a unique dyeing process called oil wash.
This process creates an uneven aged effect, as if layers of charcoal had been infused into the piece over time.
