BLACKBIRD “Zip Shirt Jacket” (Black Check)

A zip shirt jacket based on a 1960s French military mechanic jacket, reconstructed through BLACKBIRD’s unique lens.

Lightweight like a shirt, yet versatile enough to be worn as a blouson. From the size balance and three-dimensional form to the details of the collar and pockets, the design is intentionally crafted with an ambiguous aesthetic that avoids pinning it down to a specific background or era.

Crafted from a custom-made wool check fabric produced exclusively for BLACKBIRD. The subdued black base allows the check pattern to create a sense of depth.

The design is inspired by a 1990s British band that rose to fame on the back of a single hit, then spent their career grappling with that image while forging an entirely different path in rock music. It reflects the style of their frontman—one that seems somewhat unpolished, yet strangely sophisticated.

Blending military and mode, rustic and refined, this piece captures the signature coolness of BLACKBIRD as it exists on the border of these contrasts.
