"Samuel Zelig" New Collection

"Samuel Zelig" New Collection

Hello.

New items from Samuel Zelig have arrived.

Previously, the collection style was one theme with one item per collection, but as the brand has gradually become more popular, in recent seasons the collection has been divided into several themes and items related to them have been produced.
A style like this has been established.
So, even with the same themed artwork, there are a variety of items available, including T-shirts and pants.
This has resulted in a more collectible lineup.
It seems like the number of fans is gradually increasing in Japan as well.

This season is no exception and our store is on the offensive.
Please come and make your selection as if you were visiting an artist's exhibition.
This time, two series have arrived.
We have products that can be used immediately as well as those that are a little further ahead.
If it appeals to you, be sure to get it.

"ANTIQUE"

In the worlds that SZ imagines, it is important to fuse elements in seemingly unexpected combinations.
Yet, despite their strange contrast, they also harmonize mysteriously.
A perfect example of this is the "antique shop".
Antique shops are filled with various items that were once part of someone's memories or past, and these are discovered by unknown individuals and become part of new collections.
Although each item is different, they somehow blend into the same space.
For this collection, the designer carefully selected his favorite antique items, illustrated them, and incorporated them into the designs as embroidery.
Although the color scheme is consistent, each object has its own personality.

To add another dimension and bring the collection together, the pieces have been machine repaired using organically shaped patches and tonal stitching, often found on vintage workwear, to create a more worn-in look. The placement of the repairs is based on the natural distressing that occurs on real garments after years of wear.

SAMUEL ZELIG "ANTIQUE TEE" (NATURAL/RED)

The ringer-type T-shirt was popular last year as well.
Normally, the sleeves would be ribbed, giving it a more sporty feel that some would shy away from, but the sleeves on this shirt have the same design as a regular tee, so it's easy to wear.
The neck is a nice accent.
It's also highly recommended as an inner layer for shirts.

The fabric has changed; previously it was dry but this time it feels smoother against the skin.
Both are different and good, so choose whichever you prefer.
We also have an archive so you can choose now.

The colour of the embroidery thread is not American red but rather a burgundy like that found in vintage college items, giving it a subdued look.

SAMUEL ZELIG "ANTIQUE ZIP JACKET" (BLACK)

The ZIP JACKET was actually in the lineup last season and was ordered, but due to a mistake at the factory the specifications were changed and it ended up being a completely different item so it was not stocked.
This time it arrived safely.
Lately, I've been feeling like I want a short length light outerwear.
Just wear it and pair it with wide pants to complete the look.

The herringbone twill fabric is dyed and faded for a nice look.

However, the zippers used are smooth Riri zippers, and the buttons are from the Italian company COBRAX, so even the smallest details are of high quality.

The jacket expresses the essence of this theme, the coexistence of items from various cultures on display in an antique shop.

The back has the same design as the T-shirt.

SAMUEL ZELIG "ANTIQUE PANT" (BLACK)

These pants are a standard release, and the repair-like technique used on them this time (let's call it repair-style processing) is also worth seeing.
It's a very detailed piece, but the repaired area has been patched with herringbone fabric that has been given a different finish.

It has a slightly thick straight silhouette and gives a flashy impression, but surprisingly it is easy to wear.

All item photos are official brand photos.
As for this jacket and pants, the color and repair-like finish are closer to this one.
It's a vintage black that looks a bit brownish.
It expresses the appearance of faded black.
So you can enjoy it with a nice casual feel.

By the way, the illustration depicts a fictional antique shop called "TIBURON ANTIQUE." TIBURON comes from the name of the street where one of the designers, Jonathan, lived when he was born.

This is the next topic.

"HOTEL"

Film plays an important role in their design process and greatly influences the emotions they want to convey through their work.
This design group takes inspiration from some of our favorite movies, such as "The Grand Budapest Hotel," "The Shining," and "Eyes Wide Shut."
These films feature ornate, striking interiors and beautifully composed frames.
We are also influenced by the lifestyles of the artists who stay at the hotel.
For example, Hotel Chelsea is known as a gathering place for many legendary artists, including Patti Smith, Robert Mapplethorpe, Bob Dylan, and Leonard Cohen. Inspired by this, we incorporated various elements such as the hotel keys, "Do Not Disturb" signs, guest log signs, and the hotel's architectural blueprints to represent the hotel's unique brand identity.

The fictional hotel's name, " St. Denis," comes from the building where the brand first had its studio.
The building was an iconic Los Angeles landmark when it was constructed in 1929.
In this collection, characters and objects that may be found at the St. Denis Hotel are incorporated into the designs as embroidered motifs.

First of all, I really like this theme.

SAMUEL ZELIG "HOTEL TEE" (GREEN RINGER)

SAMUEL ZELIG "HOTEL TEE" (LIGHT BLUE)

The tee comes in two colors.
The funny thing about these two is that they come in two completely different colors, Henley and colored.
This depicts one of the hotel rooms.
Their studio was decorated with paintings by many artists.
Not only does he draw, he also likes collecting art.
Looking back at photos from previous visits, there were indeed nude drawings.

SAMUEL ZELIG "HOTEL SHORTS"

The shorts, which were very popular last year, have arrived early.
It's still quite early, but there have been a lot of cases recently where things are out of stock on time, so if you like this design, be sure to get it soon.
The orange herringbone color and fabric combination is quite unusual and the result is very nice.
The artwork is simple, featuring a fictional hotel logo, luggage and a hotel staff member, and a hotel key on the back.

I really like this short length as it's easy to wear.
In the summer, these shorts, a T-shirt and sandals will be the perfect combination.

SAMUEL ZELIG "HOTEL PANT"

Navy herringbone long pants.
The colours are simply beautiful with the white thread embroidery.
The detail in her specialty, hand-drawn style embroidery, is amazing.

The hotel is called "ST DENIS", and it is where the brand was launched and the name of the building where his grandfather lived. I have visited there myself, so it is a place that holds many memories for me.
I felt like their lifestyle was even more reflected in this series.

The word Sycamore, which appears in one of the earliest collections, also comes from the studio's address.
The experiences and input they have gained from their lifestyles are reflected in the collection in just the right way.

While I get emotional looking at his past collections, his new updated collections are just as great, and I can't help but look forward to Samuel Zelig's new creations every time.
There has been a lot of embroidery work on the market in recent years, but I don't think there are many that are produced with such style and quality.

This brand does not have any standard items, so once a product (piece) is made and sold out, it will not be made any more.
This is a rare style among fashion brands.
So, if you like this, please try incorporating it into your life as if you were buying art.
You've probably already brought a lot of simple things.
Now is the time to bring some individuality into your style.

Samuel Zelig's items go well with vintage clothing, American casual items like Gurank's, and even clean clothes like Lea Boberg's, so they surprisingly go well with a wide variety of clothing genres.

We look forward to seeing many of you at our store.
